Democracy of Hypocrisy
Ways with words and words with ways
Ways with words and words with ways
...two Liberal governments that is, one in Ontario, the other in BC. The stuff coming out of these governments lead me two wonder if there are actually any sane people in politics. First I'll start with Ontario and the infamous Dalton "The Dad" McGuinty Liberal government and their hand in today's announcement that auto insurance will be rising yet again. Increases could be as much as 14% in places like Toronto;yet Dalton has the balls to say to the public that car insurance is actually cheaper today then it was six years ago when he took office. WTF is this clown smoking? The reasoning behind this latest round of increases is chalked upped to the increasing physiotherapy and rehabilitation costs facing people injured in car accidents, or so say the insurance companies. Ask most people what they think of insurance companies and most will say that it is a scam, and it very well is. Yet the government is happy to go along with this scam and shaft the very people they are supposed to represent. And me living in Ontario, I do not feel represented at all and will be glad the day comes when Dalton's gang of thieves get the ole heave hoe.
Follow up:
The Ontario NDP says that publicly run auto insurance could solve this never ending problem of insurance costs skyrocketing to which provincial ie, Liberal officals responded by saying that publicly run insurance is not an option in Ontario. In other words, they aren't willing to kick their bed buddies out of the bed.
What is as sad is that McGuinty says that
when compared to the cost of living, it's a "pretty good place to be" for drivers in the province
Seriously? The province with one of the highest unemployment rates in Canada, and we should be thankful? I'm sure when people can no longer afford to drive their vehicles they will be taking those words of wisdom to heart.
I for one am barely getting by, being able to drive my car, with the cost of gas, insurance, plus my monthly payment, I may no longer be able to afford to do so. My insurance has gone up twice already. This is ridiculous and the government has the balls to smile and say Ontario is the place to be. It's a frigging insult.
Now if this Liberal nonsense wasn't enough, the folks out in BC are hearing craptacular news coming from their liberals, albeit by proxy of an NDP MLA attempting to pass a private members bill. The news involves banning people from wearing protective body armour by legislating The Body Armour Control Act. Basically what it would do is restrict the sale and ownership of body armour to law enforcement officials, prison guards, security guards, and private investigators. It would also require licensing of shops to sell body armour. Yup, the government wants to ban people from wearing passive clothing as to make it easier to arrest criminals. Anyone who wants to wear body armour would be required to undergo a criminal records check and PROVE that they have a reasonable need to wear it. Offenders could face up to 6 months in jail or a maximum $10,000 fine. Can you believe this? This is lunacy. They want to legislate against the right of people to protection, something guaranteed in our Charter of Rights as well as a declaration guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948.
Remember, this isn't a weapon, it is for protection and is something that is worn under or over ones clothes. Let's also remember how well the gun registry has worked out. That to was enacted to keep guns and such out of the criminal element and it hasn't exactly worked out too well. Now they want to add their own brand of idiocy by banning innocent people from protecting themselves. This country is fucked.
Sure, some will argue that why do everyday people need to wear body armour, and to that I say why not. Instead of going after those that actually commit crimes whilst wearing body armour, this law will be targeting ordinary citizens. So in effect, the government doesn't care about it's people. If you live in a high crime area and feel safer by donning this gear, you too shall soon be a criminal thanks to the geniuses in the Liberal government out west. That is unless you go through a ridiculous process of warranting the wearing of one. They couldn't possibly have thought that if a criminal commits an offence when wearing body armour, that the sentence could be harsher. Nope, not them, too easy to come up with so lets just ban it outright. I dare say that I can see Dalton soon adopting this bogus bullshit here in Ontario as well. It would not surprise me one bit.

High school, college, and professional football players wear body armour during their games. A number of other sporting types would as well, I imagine. I wonder if the Libs want increased, publically-funded medical costs in exchange for outlawing body armour.
As far as insurance goes, it is well over-priced in Ontario. We just have to look at Manitoba for a properly run public insurance scheme that doesn't gouge the residents. McGuinty has done nothing but drive the cost of living up in Ontario since he's gotten in. He simply has to go, but don't expect insurance rates to come down during the next reign of error.

I'm sure that the legislation will specify ballistics vests and or stab proof vests. All it takes is for one innocent person to get shot at and hurt and a lawsuit against the government for making it so a person has to register and go through background checks just to ensure their own personal safety. I cannot have ever imagined living in a society that allows the government to dictate whether or not you are allowed to ensure your own safety by wearing a passive article of clothing.
," Heed said"Police see it all too often. The gang member or organized criminal is out on our streets and in our neighbourhoods while hiding behind the added protection of bulletproof vests as
Hmmm, that quote strikes me, considering they want to make it more difficult for people to be able to have protection.
As for the insurance, I find it hilarious how they can say that publicly run insurance is not an option for Ontario, yet fail to offer any reasoning behind that statement.
