The Ontario Liberals seem to be edging closer to a third victory if one were to judge based on the latest polls. I had a debate with some friends about how this is even possible. My stance was that Dalton McGuinty and the liberals have amassed a huge debt, the largest in Ontario's history and that surely the people of Ontario would trounce him based on that alone. Why would I assume this? Because we did the same thing to Bob Rae and the NDP in the 90's, and to this day, people bring up the fact that Rae ruined Ontario and the NDP have noo chance in hell of ever winning again based on that.

But here we are, with Ontario being a have not province and the liberals riding high with the smug McGuinty promising everything under the sun. Nevermind the lies, the scandals, the boondoggles, all of it doesn't matter because Dalton is teflon, nothing sticks to this man. We in Ontario love to complain about the liberals and their lies, but we are quick to re-elect them because apparently the other parties are just a lil bit worse than the liberals. So it is not as if we actually like Dalton, we just dislike Tim Hudak and Andrea Horwath. This won't be an election of choosing the right government, it will be about choosing one that isn't as bad as the other.

Already there has been much controversy, with the liberal plan to give tax credits to companies that hire skilled workers that have immigrated to Ontario, and the response by Tim Hudak and the PC's as being borderline bigoted. The Univrsity of Windsor has revealed that thousands of student's email's were compromised and sent pro liberal emails promising cash for students upon McGuinty's re-election. Couple that with the attack ads being aired by both the liberals and the pc's, it will no doubt be a knuckle busting fight to the finish.

I just hope that when all is said and done, the old "lets blame Bob Rae for ruining Ontario" can be laid to rest. Although I highly doubt that will be the case. Just remember folks, you are about to re-elect a man that has lied to you continually for 8 years and you complained and complained, but you will be in for some more of the same if you elect the liberals to a third term.

At best, I am hoping that if they do win, it is a minority this time.
