How many people who voted really know the issues? For people in our circle, we get into the issues and research the different sides of an argument. But for the general public, politics is largely based on name recognition, or even worse, party recognition. The people of Toronto Centre are no different.

As you say, Hudac's PC's fail to impress. That's what's needed to swing a vote from the party that holds a seat. You saw it under Mulrooney Federally, and under Harris at the Provincial level. It can happen, but the voters have to be engaged.

As you say, most people who voted or will vote in the future don't know the issues and it's sad. If my dad or grandad voted liberal or pc, I guess that means I should to. That is the attitude that has lead us to liberal dominated governments at the federal level for many years.

Tim Hudac's problem is that he is essentially Mike Harris with a different name. He;s too close to the old guard and people remember, but it's odd because how quickly they also forget McGuinty's lies and all the scandals they seem to be involved in.

It's hard to explain why people are willing to let McGuinty off the hook, but have a hate on for Harris. It's sad really.

Hudac as Harris disciple? I think people forget also that Harris was elected twice and then left office (note to Eddie). It was only under Eaves that that the train came off the rails, but Harris gets the blame. Harris reincarnate would not be as bad as people think.
