Wow, what a finish to the 2010 Winter games. Take out the much hyped own the podium and we bested our previous medal record set in Turin by 2 medals. Way to go Canada. In what was a slow start to the games, Canada pulled through in the waning days, winning multiple golds, silvers and bronzes, finishing with a total of 26 medals. Although we didn't own the podium outright, our athletes sure as hell owned the podium for the most gold medals ever won by a host country as well as most golds ever won at the winter Olympics.

The Americans are doing a good job of squatting our podium in the 2010 Winter Olympics and there are reports that Canada will fall short of its expectations. However, there is much more going on here than just the athletes failing to medal. Other countries, most notably the Brits, are complaining and lambasting the Vancouver games; calling them the worst games ever and so on. We are also taking flack for our program that was meant to produce top athletes. Apparently when we, the often quiet, laid back Canucks make such grandiose statements, suddenly we are too arrogant.
Five For Canada

Canada's junior hockey team pulled off the victory in a 5-1 win over Sweden in the world junior championship, winning the gold medal and matching the success of the juniors in the years of 1993-1997 by doing it in 5 years consecutively.
Olympic Taekwondo ref gets kicked in the face, and I lol'd.
Ángel Valodia Matos, fighting for Cuba, attacked a referee after the ref disqualified Matos for taking too long on an injury T.O. He also chased another official and spit on the mat before being subdued and ushered off by security. Apparently, he, along with is coach will also be banned from future competition and his Olympic records will be erased.
Another summer games, another embarrassment for Canada. Seems we can't even qualify for the medal rounds. Adam Trupish got spanked in his first round boxing match. Adam was the only member of the Canadian boxing team!! Brent Hayden, a medal hopeful, didn't even qualify for the 100 metre freestyle swimming event and Canada has yet to go to the podium.
