The people living in West Windsor, specifically the Indian Rd area have had enough, and took their frustrations to city council on Monday, only to be denied. They are tired of the abandoned houses, the rodents, and the plummeting property values. With hopes of having their voices heard, city council was quick to reject them and tell them to come back in two weeks.
Follow up:
You see, there is a battle going on between the city and the owner of said properties, Matty Moroun, with the innocent west Windsorites being caught in the crossfire. Anyone is welcome to take a drive down Indian Road to witness for themselves the deplorable, dilapidated conditions that these houses are in. Yet no one on city council seems to have the balls to do anything about it. They do however have the balls to call police to have the angry protesters tossed out of city council meetings.
But procedure is procedure and The Boarded Up Houses Demolition Action Group failed to be placed on the night's regular agenda and failed to get the required two-thirds vote to be put on it in the last minute. Such is life but we should remember that Windsor city council bucks the rules quite regularly to fit their own needs.
The owner of the Ambassador bridge, and subsequently these properties that the now abandoned houses sit on are all owned by Mr. Maroun, who has so far, failed to receive city issued demolition permits to tear them down, and so they sit, rotting away. The city blames Matty for this, yet the citizens aren't buying the excuse or simply do not care because in the end, it is the city who seems to be holding this up. From the City's point of view, they think Matty is playing a waiting game to purposefully lower the property values in regards to being able to buy more property at below market value. Regardless of the games, people want action because they are the ones being affected by the blight of homes decaying, yet these same people are the ones being snubbed by Eddie and crew. Let this be a reminder to not just the people living in West Windsor, but to all of Windsor how corrupt and useless council and the mayor have become over the years.

Council has on many occasions waived the procedural bylaw to accomodate themselves or others. Any one of them could have made the motion last night, and I would expected Jones or Postma to do so. I expect cowardice from the mayor and we were not disappointed on that issue. I also expect idiocy from many of the councilors and they aren't failing to deliver on expectations.
Further to my last post, there actually was a vote, and it passed, but the mayor said it didn't. Can't councilors count?
