Tisk tisk Spanky, this doesn't look good at all.

What have you guys gotten yourself into now lol.The white elephant known as Ceaser's Windsor is having a bit of trouble with their new $81 million power plant. See, the thing is, it isn't fully operational, far from it, and it may never be! The good ole citizens of Ontario should be mad as hell for paying for this boondoggle but I haven't really heard much from anyone. Must be the love we still have for the Dalton Liberals, but then again, the polls are showing his support shrivelling up so who knows.

The OLG also says the energy centre was supposed to cost $40 million. Built into the parking garage of Caesars Windsor, the powerhouse provides heating, cooling and backup power to the expanded gaming facility.

Well, in theory that is what it is supposed to do, but in reality...

The generators have never been hooked up to the power grid as planned and the counterclaim alleges massive mismanagement of the facility.

Mismanagement, the word de jour. Eh, ya don't say.

The Pièce de résistance though is

This facility has provided millions of dollars to the treasury of Ontario,” said Brum. “Caesars Windsor continues to make money and continues to be an important source of incomes for the people of Windsor.”

Thats great news...for the treasury, but what about all those folk who dump money there and walk away with nothing? The machines there are tight as hell and many people have decided not to play there anymore. What about the people who have been laid off? It seems to me they want to lead people to believe that Ceaser's is profitable, when the truth is it is not. A ton of money was spent on upgrading the facilities only to see the business dwindle. Business is down for a variety of reasons though, with the economy being tabled as the main reason, but the smoking ban and passport requirements have also been mentioned. One thing is for sure, this white elephant has bitten us right in the ass, something that some had argued would eventually happen, and well, here we are.
