It's that time of year

...when the annual seal "hunt" takes place off the east coast of Canada. During this time I reflect on my disdain at being a Canadian. I do so because it does not make me proud to be associated with a country that allows this "hunt" to happen year after year, despite the efforts of organizations such as the Sea Shepard Conservation Society, the Humane Society of the United States, and harpseals.org etc.

Follow up:

I have debated this subject numerous times on different web forums and have come to realize that it is just like debating religion or politics, it doesn't matter what I say, the other side is firm in their stance and it is futile, just as I am firm in mine. I have contacted my local MP many times about this matter and his replies have not warranted any other replies from me because it wasn't what I wanted to hear. So tomorrow morning the cull begins and the same old drama will unfold and I will be scanning the headlines just as I always do.

I invite you to pop over to stageleft and read about the willful dishonesty that the anti-sealing groups engage in as part of their various campaigns - there are a few recent posts about it.

Oh I already know about the various tactics the anti sealing groups use and I wish they wouldn't resort to them, specifically showing videos and pictures of white coats being killed which no longer takes place.

Good on you! I try very hard to have faith that if "good" keeps plugging away it eventually wins. Idealistic Im sure but...the alternative doesnt bare thinking about.
