Marc Emery awaits extradition

Canada's "Prince of Pot" Marc Emery is in custody awaiting extradition to the United States for allegedly selling marijuana seeds to US customers. The political fall guy will be appearing in a Seattle court where he is expected to plead guilty and will be facing a five year term in federal prison. Without the plea bargain he would have been facing fifty years! Before entering the B.C court room, Emery spoke with the crowd gathered outside and said

There is no crime here. The politicians who support this extradition are supporters of organized crime. We are making criminals with laws like this.

The saga began in 2005 when he was arrested in a joint operation between Canadian and US police forces for allegedly selling marijuana seeds over the internet from Vancouver to customers in the U.S. Emery has stated that his business has made millions of dollars over the years and that the money was used in his many political campaigns as well as supporting marijuana advocacy groups around the world.

Follow up:

Can you believe this? This whole thing is absurd and I am wondering why the Canadian government is also not being investigated? Did they not make money off of the taxes that Emery paid? They knew full well what his business was so are they also not complicit? What he did here in Canada was not against the law, he was not selling drugs as many wish to claim, he sold seeds. Our powerful overlords named the United States once again dictate to us what we have to do. Its insane. When do we get Omar Kadhr back guys? I mean the friggin Supreme Court of Canada has ordered his return, no? When ya gonna send em here?

This amounts to political games, and Marc Emery is a POLITICAL PRISONER, and this all went down not because he sold seeds, it is because he is a threat to the DEA and their flawed war on drugs, and as well to the Conservative agenda this country faces. Bill C-15 sounds like a bill made in the US, and if it passes here, you can bet our prisons will fill up just like they are over there and Emery is being used as an example of Harper's new tough on crime stance. It's pathetic, but here's a thought, prohibition doesn't fucking work. How many years is it going to take before the government realizes that? You can build all the prisons you want but you will never eradicate this so called problem, you just wont because people will always be smoking weed no matter what you do!

The Americanization of Canada is in full swing so remember this when the Cons speak of sovereignty and show them the door next election. Reefer madness for sure.

Actually, prohibition does work--it keeps millions of nazis gainfully employed in a cruel world that would leave most of them on the lower end of the feeding chain , otherwise.
Sure it's at the expense of the rest of us---but when did we ever stand up collectively and do the right thing? We snooze--we lose.

Until we do --the chemical corporations will continue to rule the evil empire to our immediate south and; us by proxy--allowing them to continue feeding us poison--fouling the atmosphere and the water--making us all sick-- and then forcing more chemicals down our collective throats in a feeble attempt to make us better--there are no wonder drugs!

No wonder drug companies fear the evil weed--they haven't come up with anything more effective in 10,000 years of trying
You can wait another epoch, if you expect any of these idiots to breath any sense into this cluster___.

Wake up--we are what we swallow!

Well said Smokey. I would like to add this observation. Lawyers/politicians who are mostly full time lawyers and part time politicians earn countless billions from the criminalization of cannabis. How can this be democratic, the people who pass unjust laws are the ones who profit from it? Bill c-15 being a prime example.

Just goes to show how "broken" our gov't is. This is a ridiculous waste of tax dollars and a witch hunt.
