McGuinty Says To Tighten Our Belts

As if things weren't tight already dumdum. How much more can we tighten our belts? Dalton McGuinty has set the stage for tomorrows fall economic statement by basically telling the public sector to lower their expectations. Translated that means less money for hospitals, teachers etc. Even though he made a promise in his 2007 campaign to put money into fighting poverty, it seems yet again he will be breaking a promise.

...

But he expects the people of Ontario to understand because after all,we are amid tough times. But wait, he predicts in 2 years time that things will get better, just in time for the election! How convenient to say the least.

All this is of course happening due to the global economic crisis, but McGuinty can simply legislate a ban on a global economic crisis, can't he? He has a massive ban hammer so why not?

So here we are, things are going to shit, McGuinty is breaking another promise, and things will just get worse and we wonder what is next. Perhaps they will run a deficit? No one will know until tomorrow, but either way, people living in poverty or near poverty will be suffering, as always.

The Premier was left with 3 choices, running a deficit, raising taxes, or cutting public services, and it looks like he chose or will be choosing to run a deficit. The people of Ontario will not stand for raised taxes and cutting our already cut public sector would just about guarantee a loss in the next election for dumdum. A deficit is the lessor of the evils and Dalton knows this.

But we are supposed to tighten our belts while these fuckers sit there with their nice 25% raise they gave themselves earlier. How nice it must be to tell the rest of Ontario (the working poor)that we need to tighten our belts while they enjoy their nice raises. Fuck that...
