Democracy of Hypocrisy

Ways with words and words with ways
NDP Olivia Chow has posted a press release on her site claiming that her site had been hacked during a recent poll asking if people rejected Harper’s economic plans. The poll showed a 60/40 yes-no split up until 11:30 PM last night when suddenly the numbers started to change when hundreds of votes for the "no" side began to occur. Apparently when the poll first was posted, it attracted an average of 10 votes per day, mostly in favour of Olivia's "yes" position, but at the time the results started to change, an average of 200-300 votes per hour where being noticed, all in favour of "no".
Follow up:
The website admin then tried to reset the results pre 11:30 PM but the numbers were still changing, thus the admin concluded that the poll was being spammed by one voter or malicious software was being used. The admin then went on to proclaim
“I doubt 300 Trinity-Spadina voters an hour are up at 3 am clicking furiously on her website, it is obvious the site was the victim of a spam campaign” said the website’s administrator.
I went to look at the poll myself but it has since been removed.
The poll has since been removed. “It’s a shame that a method allowing us to gain genuine feedback from our constituents gets abused by a few” said the administrator.
Screen caps have been flourishing on the net after news of this broke which is resulting in Chow supporters saying it proves these people had a hidden agenda. They are also blaming it on freeping saying it is an often used tactic by right wingers to sway public opinion in their favour.
Are you kidding me? Olivia Chow or whoever posted that nonsense should go stick their head in the sand. They obviously do not know about groups on facebook where once this type of poll is posted, everyone who is in that group who is against the coalition will go and post in the poll. These people are from across Canada so no matter what time it is In Toronto, people from Alberta could be awake posting in it. The press release offers lame reasoning and bs to try and sway public opinion. Anyone with half a brain could figure out that when people catch wind of something, they will be on it like flies on shit. BTW, hacking does not include voting in a poll, unless someone hacked into the website to change the results, no hacking occurred, and to say otherwise is a blatant lie.
Apparently, in NDPville, when the results are not to your liking, you cry foul and blame it on hackers.

Uh, do you know what freeping is? 'Cause what you describe in the last paragraph is exactly the behaviour being objected to. That Chow didn't know this was a common tactic with regard to online polls shows a depressing lack of awareness, but it's pretty clear that's what she means when she says "hacking".

Why are they objecting to it? When someone against the coalition or the NDP does it, it's called freeping, but when pro-coalitioners post links to online polls directing others to partake in it, nothing is said. Just the fact that this poll showed pretty much the same results as other polls have should lead one to suspect freeping didn't occur. Unless these people were posting numerous times under different ip's,which hasn't been proved and will never be proved then again, no freeping occurred. If she didn't want anyone other than NDP supporters polling, then perhaps a disclaimer such as "this is a poll for Olivia Chow or NDP supporters only" should have been shown.
It's spam when someone disagrees with your opinion, but perfectly legit when they favour it, yeah, real democratic. Regardless of how people found out about the poll, if one wishes to call it freeping, then all it goes to show is that the NDP actually don't have much support if all they can collect is 100 or so yes votes lol. If only Chow supporters knew about the poll, I would suggest that the poll would in fact be skewed right there. Self selecting polls would be meaningless, even more so than a meaningless net poll to begin with. Meh, I suppose the Ekos-Reid polls were freeped as well eh Chow?

Just wait till they get super slammed in a Federal Election. I suppose that would be "freeping" too?
