Democracy of Hypocrisy
Ways with words and words with ways
Ways with words and words with ways
In your seemingly heart felt gesture to organize and clean up the parks of the city, you are also performing work that is done by workers who are on strike.I don't know what has happened to this town; historically, we have been a union city and people seemed to care about one another back in the day. Nowadays, we have the ME generation, those only concerned about themselves, the same people whose fathers, mothers, uncles, grand fathers etc worked in one of the automotive plants or other unionized trade shops in town. But something has changed, suddenly we unionized workers are the enemy and are the endless targets for people to blame. With the strike by the city workers going into its seventh week, the anger and frustration has made many organize an event for Saturday to "take back our parks". Ordinary citizens of Windsor are heading out to the city's baseball diamonds, the soccer pitches and other parks to cut the grass that has grown as some would say, waist high. They will be picking up the garbage and making sure that things will be safe for the kids.
Follow up:
The safety angle assures that the scab work being done is justifiable, I mean, it's for the kids right? Now, there are some on facebook and the Windsor Star who want to argue semantics and say they aren't scabs because they aren't being paid for it, but ya know what, a scab is also defined as a worker who accepts employment or replaces a union worker during a strike, and that is exactly what these "caring" parents are doing, replacing a union worker. No matter how you try to spin it, you are doing the work of a striker. Good intentions start out well, but they don't always end well and even the king himself, Mayor Eddie Francis is calling upon the folks of Windsor to NOT take matters into their own hands for fear of violence or injury due to cutting the garbage strewn grass.
Grass, the very thing that almost every kid has grown up playing on, and now after all these years, apparently it isn't safe anymore and must be cut come hell or high water. I mean it isn't as if there are other municipalities with baseball diamonds that could be used. I know, total inconvenience for the heroes of Windsor, who up until this day, probably never even thanked a city worker for taking care of their precious parks. The hypocrisy in this city is growing at an alarming rate and the venom being spit toward anyone even associated with a union is out of control. The do gooders will be rationalizing and cross the lines so that little Jimmy can play ball, when in reality, little Jimmy should sit back and learn a lesson about what my family and others have fought for in this town. But no, the people of this town have forgotten the history and have now turned on the workers and for what, a freshly cut field so their kids can play soccer? This city sickens me more and more every day and I am starting to find out who my real friends are and those who couldn't give a flying fuck about anyone else. If you make too much money, if you have something that others do not, you are the enemy and must be called on it, according to this glorious city called Windsor and its fine citizens.
So to the wannabe heroes of Windsor, although your hearts are in the right place, you are doing more harm than good.
The frustrations are starting to turn physical
