The Coalition, What Coalition?
why the one between Michael Ignatieff and Stephen Harper that is, at least according to Jack Layton. Not even 24 hours after the budget was read, the back stabbing and accusations are starting to fly after the apparent death of the LIBNDPBLOC coalition. Michael Ignatieff has offered to support the budget which will keep the Conservatives in power. Of course this comes at a small price, a sort of probation if you will in which Harper must provide reports to the Liberals.
...
Many had speculated that Ignatieff would come back with some amendments of sorts because it was only yesterday that he said the budget was a "flawed document". The only amendment however was the requirement to issue reports, a move that has ticked off a lot of Liberals.
But Liberals aren't the only ones grumbling. A quick look on blogging tories and you will see that some are calling for Harper
to either step down or be booted out as Conservative leader. So here we have it folks Jack Layton is basically calling Ignatieff a traitor, Ignatieff supporters are now scratching their heads and asking wtf, and Harper fans are ready to leave the party because he's too liberal. Oh and Duceppe is saying that any Quebec MP who votes for this budget is choosing Canada over Quebec.
How quickly the tides shift and party affiliations come into question. I am sitting here laughing because I knew, I knew that Layton would launch the first salvo against Ignatieff. I knew this would happen if Iggy decided to keep Harper in power and I also know that the games will not stop. This parliament will not be much different from the last one and that concerns me. I am sure somewhere down the line though, the possibility of a coalition will once again come up and then everyone can be buddy buddy again.
Now that the Liberals will be propping up the Conservatives, I ask, no I urge all of them to get to work and stop acting like idiots.

Asking idiots to stop being idiots is somewhat futile, but not as bad as doing nothing I guess. I wish we as citizens had more power.

I read in the Halifax Chronicle Herald that Mike Duffy states the PEI premier Ghiz and NL Premier Danny Williams make strange bedfellows. His reasoning is theat Danny is a bully and no one should make an alliance with a bully.. How is that for hipocrisy?
