The more things change, the more they stay the same

It's like Dsert Storm in 1991 all over again. Back then I was a youngin of 14 years of age and what I saw on CNN was awesome to me at the time. Anti-aircraft shells sgoing off in the night sky with the cool green glow of night vision. Patriot missles and scud missiles were words that one would come to learn as the war dragged on. Fast forward to 2003 and it seemed like history was repeating itself as the second Gulf war was under way. This time however the word terrorism was all the rage and the United States, acting as the world police, were there to end the reign of Saddam Hussein, even though he had nothing to do with terrorism or weapons of mass destruction, as the world was led to believe. Fast forward again to 2011 and history is once again repeating itself, so it seems, although in a different land.

...

This time however, as previously in 2003, I do not think any of this is cool. I am not a kid anymore and I can see the hypocrisy in the world in which I live and something about this new mission does not bode well with me. For one, I question why the coalition has bothered to interfere in a civil war when there are places in the world where governments are also slaughtering it's people. Darfur comes to mind and it is a point that has been brought up by many. So why Libya? I do not want to go into a conspiracy ridden rant but most people would assume it is because Libya has oil. It's not as if we haven't heard about the strife in the Congo for years now. Or more recently, the happenings in Bahrain or the other Mid East countries that are going through this push for "democracy". So what makes Libya so important that we have to send our own fighter jets and crews to participate in this? Ask yourself why all of a sudden we care about these people more than the others in other countries. If the coalition countries care so much about protecting people, why do they trade with China who is the world's biggest human rights violator?

To me this is one big pile of hypocratic horse crap and to see Stephen Harper all smug with a boner for war is nauseating.

    Whats worse?

No Parlimentary debate, no vote to go to war.

Who decides which countries will have foriegn troops invading with humanitarian bombs dropping on the people?

    The U.N.

Who will they decide democratize next?
